This is a course introduced from the academic year 2000-2001, by the University of Mumbai.
It has been designed to provide students with a firm grounding in communication skills, develop
the ability for critical thinking and creativity and learn to combine theory with practical applications,
through detailed research, lucid writing skills, oral presentation skills and a mastery of various mass
communications media in our global information age. The areas of specialization in the Third Year are
Advertising or Journalism. In the summers between the Second and the Third year, students
are facilitated to take up internships in media industries.

A candidate in order to be eligible for admission to the B.M.M. degree course shall have passed the 12th Std. Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branch with two or three or four years duration after passing the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) examination conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or equivalent examination.
The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication has been renamed Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication from 2015, to factor in the changing demands and needs of the media industry. The institution has achieved 100% placement of the graduates passing out every year.
