Symbiosis Centre for Media - Communication (SCMC), has been successful in carving a niche for itself in the field of Media and Communication education since its inception in 2008.

The definition of media has undergone a radical change in recent times. The shift is not merely technological but that of perception of society about media and the awareness of the potential that lies in the active participation in the creation of media. The potential to transform society by challenging and changing the norms constantly, by resorting to the voice that is present within us, to express what is felt and it is this active expression which makes us human.

Through This programme, Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication), Students are offered a comprehensive experience through traditional academic learning - research with cyber - experiential learning. This Course offers 120 Seats.

SET Test Pattern

SET (General) consists of four sections with a total of 150 questions. The duration of the test is 150 minutes. There is no negative marking.

Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ)

Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ) is housed at the University Sports Stadium - North Campus. DSJ has a lush green and spacious campus with the state of the art academic infrastructure. The serene and picturesque site will definitely enhance the academic pursuits of journalism students at DSJ. It is five minutes' walk from the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station.

The School will focus on imparting knowledge and skills to the prospective students in the following areas: Media and Communication; Writing for Media; News Reporting and Editing; Programming for Media; Media Production in all Formats - Print, Broadcast (TV and Radio), Film and Online; Media Technology; Communication for Development; New and Social Media; Multimedia; and Foreign and Regional Languages.

Admission Requirements and Procedure

  • Students shall be admitted to this course, through a national level written entrance test conducted by the University of Delhi.
  • 2. The test will be conducted separately for English Medium (Total seats 60) and Hindi Medium (Total seats 60).
  • 3. Students who secure 50% in Class XII (irrespective of the streams) will be eligible to apply for the entrance test.
  • 4. The entrance test will examine the candidate's proficiency in General Knowledge and Current Affairs, and Analytical and Comprehension Skills. The entrance test will be designed with the comparable standard of competitive exams at the national level for Class XII students. The Entrance Test will be an MCQ of total 400 marks having 100 questions of 4 marks each. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
  • 5. The admission will be done completely on the basis of the Entrance Test.
  • 6. Reservation and other exemptions are applicable as per the Delhi University rules.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Department of Media Studies at Christ University is one of the most vibrant and academically rigorous centres of media higher education in India with the passion of honing students skills, knowledge and attitude for effective leadership in varied local, national and global media platforms. Since its inception in 1991, the department has always strived to optimize the theoretical rigour and practical exposure of its students, through a constantly evolving curriculum, a plethora of activities and workshops, and exposure to key experts from the various fields of communication.

The CEP (The Communication and Media, English, Psychology) UG programme offers an eclectic mix - Introduction to Mass Communication, Critical Thinking, Print, Broadcast, Photography, Audio and Video Production, Event Management, Advertising, Public Relations, Software for Media, Strategic Storytelling, Introduction to Media Research, Reading Cinema, Media Culture and Ethics, Media Laws and Rights - as part of its syllabus, to facilitate a multi-faceted profile for the student and deal with an ever-changing media context. The JPEng (Journalism, Psychology and English) UG programme offers a plethora of journalistic exposures - Introduction to Communication and Journalism, Contemporary India: Politics, Economics and Society, Reporting and Editing, Developmental Journalism, Magazine Journalism, Documentary Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Software for Multimedia Journalism, Media Laws and Ethics, Media Research, and Environmental Journalism - setting an ideal platform for launching the student into a competitive journalistic career. Internships, workshops, guest lectures etc. are built into the curriculum to promote diverse platforms of learning

Bachelor of Mass Media

This is a course introduced from the academic year 2000-2001, by the University of Mumbai. It has been designed to provide students with a firm grounding in communication skills, develop the ability for critical thinking and creativity and learn to combine theory with practical applications, through detailed research, lucid writing skills, oral presentation skills and a mastery of various mass communications media in our global information age. The areas of specialization in the Third Year are Advertising or Journalism. In the summers between the Second and the Third year, students are facilitated to take up internships in media industries.

Eligibility

A candidate in order to be eligible for admission to the B.M.M. degree course shall have passed the 12th Std. Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branch with two or three or four years duration after passing the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) examination conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or equivalent examination.

Basis of Admission

  • There will be a written test of 100 marks (Objective Test on the OMR Sheet).
  • Category-wise Final Merit list will be made by giving a 60% weightage to the score obtained in the written test and a 40% weightage to the score obtained in the qualifying Class XII Examinations. (Dates for the Merit List will be displayed on the day of the respective Entrance Test - Please also check the College website for updates).
  • The Entrance Test will be for 100 marks based on Multiple Choice Questions
  • The Test Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes.

Nature of the Content of the Entrance Test

  • For the BMM it will consist of questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Data Interpretation, Economics, English Language - Comprehension Skills, Logical Reasoning and Critical Analysis - Creative Thinking.

BA Media & Communication

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication has been renamed Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication from 2015, to factor in the changing demands and needs of the media industry. The institution has achieved 100% placement of the graduates passing out every year.
